ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide educational information and opportunities to SCC4 Grant participants, information technology, automation, workforce training students and grant participants.
- Provide formal learning opportunities such as:
- A customized adult learning plan for each participant
- A job readiness suitability for the type of training needed
- Participate in information sessions and recruiting activities for the H1-B One Workforce Project
- Facilitate group work in workshop and small group formats.
- Provide career coach and case management services, including:
- Assist with individual assessments as defined by grant requirements
- Collaborate with partners to help identify and address learning barriers.
- Collaborate with partners to bring career coaching services to the community and partner organizations.
- Administering participant support services system
- Conduct WorkKeys, JOFI, and other assessments to prepare participants for National Career Readiness Certificates and national certification exams.
- Document and maintain individual participant and grant files.
- Develop employment leads/placements with grant partners
- Re-engaging clients who may be approaching noncompliance status
- Maintaining participant reporting/reconciliation
- Monitoring overall participant performance in education and training programs
- Monitoring/coordinating follow-up with education and training retention participants on at least a monthly basis
- Coordinate and monitor participate attendance with instructors and data entry staff
- Attend meetings as required.
- Coordinate the retrieval of information from the system for faculty, staff and students.
- Coordinate activities with external educational training specialists/coaches at grant partner organizations.
- Administer system designed to track grant participants who have been referred from other agencies
- Process new referrals.
- Provide monitoring/follow-up of participants by obtaining employment verifications and attendance reports.
- Maintain student attendance logs.
- Prepare client case records at case opening and closing.
- Set-up, attend and present at community and employer events/meetings to discuss the grant and program options.
- Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials
- Associates degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Work Experience
- Previous work experience as a career coach or advisor serving adults with diverse backgrounds and barriers highly preferred.
- Previous experience in the technology, IT or workforce development sector preferred.
Skills
- Technical - Proficiency with MS Office products and data systems.
- Communication - Excellent listening and communication skills, both written and verbal. Must demonstrate a high level of customer service and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student, staff and employer partner population.
- Team Player - Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously with program and college staff, students, and community. Demonstrated ability in working on a cross-functional team in a collaborative learning centered environment.
- Reasoning - Strong reasoning skills and attention to detail.
- Task completion - Proven initiative and ability to follow through on multiple projects in a timely manner.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift 10lbs and stand for 30-45 minutes at a time.

Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to drive or travel to employer locations and local community partner locations is required. Valid driver’s license and the ability to provide transportation to meetings in the State of Michigan.
